When nobody is playing
It stays up evening after evening while you are playing. Only a world nobody has opened for two days is put to sleep, and one press in the panel or on Discord brings it back.
You bought memory, not a game
Finish this world and start something else on the same package, for nothing. The world you leave is kept where it is, and it is waiting if you come back to it.
Questions people ask about Valheim
Can friends on Game Pass or the Microsoft Store join?
Not yet. Every Valheim server we create is Steam-only, and you join it by the address on its own page, which is the address we print everywhere else. Crossplay changes that: a crossplay server is reached by a code rather than by an address. It is a setting per server, and these pages cannot set it yet.
Why is the first start slower than the rest?
The first start downloads about two gigabytes of the dedicated server from Steam, which takes three to four minutes on our machines. Every start after that is around a minute, because the download is already there.
We have been playing this world for months. Which package?
A Valheim world grows with everything ever built in it, so a world several months old is the case that outgrows L. If yours is that world, take XL — and if you started it last week, L is the right place to start.
